Fish Welfare Course – Approved Training for Aquaculture Employees

Are you responsible for fish welfare at an aquaculture facility? Then our fish welfare course is a necessary step to ensure high fish health, low mortality and good quality production. This course is approved by the Norwegian Food Safety Authority and is tailored for employees at hatchery, food fish and broodstock facilities.

Course content:

Our Fish Welfare course provides you with in-depth knowledge of fish welfare and how this affects the overall health of the fish and the operation of the facility. You will learn about fish health, stress management, vaccination, and the most important laws and regulations related to aquaculture.

  • Fish biology and physiology
  • From roe to smolt
  • Vaccination and treatment
  • Stress and coping
  • Sea lice and prevention
  • Stunning and killing
  • Relevant legislation and regulations
  • Water quality and its importance for fish welfare

Target group:

Our fish welfare course is designed for anyone who has responsibility for or works with fish welfare on aquaculture farms. This includes managers, farmers, slaughterhouse personnel and transporters of live fish. The course is also available to anyone over the age of 16.

Practical information:

The course is delivered online, giving you the flexibility to learn when and where it suits you. Our fish welfare course has an estimated duration of 16 hours. It consists of tasks that must be answered continuously and ends with an exam. Upon passing the exam, you will receive a certificate of competence that is valid for five years.

Requirements for prior knowledge:
