Norwegian authorities introduced new rules on working at height with effect from 1 January 2016. The biggest change concerned new training requirements for scaffolders. It is Chapter 17 of the "Regulations on the performance of work" that was revised. Training for scaffolders is now divided according to the height of the scaffold. Scaffolders who will build scaffolds over two metres must be trained in assembly, dismantling, modification and inspection of scaffolding. The training must also enable workers to assess the condition of the scaffolding material and the need for maintenance.
According to the "Regulations on the performance of work" Section 17-3, the employer must ensure that employees who will work with the assembly, disassembly, modification and inspection of scaffolding with an upper scaffolding floor over five meters in standard configuration receive training. The requirement for training also applies to mobile scaffolding over five meters. This course "Scaffolding course 2-9 meters - theory" provides theoretical training in accordance with the requirements of the regulation. The employer must subsequently document sufficient practical training (15 hours) to meet the requirements of the regulation for both theoretical and practical training. Course certificates for the theoretical part are issued to participants after the theoretical course has been completed.
PURPOSE
Provide theoretical training to personnel who will assemble, dismantle, modify and inspect scaffolds with an upper scaffold floor from five to nine meters in standard configuration.
THE COURSE COVERS THE FOLLOWING TOPICS
- Understanding of plans for assembly, disassembly or modifications of the scaffolding in question
- Safety when assembling, dismantling or modifying the scaffolding in question
- Measures to reduce the risk of falling for people and objects
- Scaffolding inspection
- Safety measures in case of weather changes
- Permissible loads

The course runs over 2 days. 15 hours of theory.
