Hot work is a term used to describe work operations that can pose a fire risk. This includes welding, cutting, grinding, roofing and other activities that involve flames, hot objects or sparks. To protect people, property and the environment, the authorities have strict requirements for safety and training when performing such work.
What is hot work?
Hot work includes any activity that could start a fire or explosion. Work such as welding, cutting with gas or electrical equipment, grinding metal and using an open flame fall under this category. Therefore, proper competence and certification are required to perform these tasks safely.
What requirements are placed on you?

Anyone who performs hot work must have completed an approved course and hold a valid certificate. The certificate is issued by the Norwegian Fire Protection Association and is valid for 5 years. -

Before work begins, a thorough assessment of the fire risk at the workplace must be carried out. Identify hazards, clarify necessary measures and ensure that fire prevention equipment is available. -
