What do the regulations say?
According to the "Regulations on the Performance of Work" No. 1357, Section 17-4, the employer must ensure that all employees who are to assemble, dismantle, modify or inspect scaffolding with an upper scaffolding floor of nine meters or higher receive the necessary training.
This also applies to situations where the scaffolding is not assembled in a standard configuration according to the supplier's instructions, regardless of the height of the scaffolding.
Who must take a scaffolding installer course over 9 meters?
- People who assemble, dismantle or modify scaffolding with a height of over 9 meters.
- Those responsible for controlling such scaffolding.
- Employees in companies that perform work on or with scaffolding over 9 meters.
Prior knowledge in the form of a basic fall protection course is recommended before taking the scaffolding installer course.
What will you learn on the course?
The scaffolding installer course over 9 meters provides both theoretical and practical training in:
- Laws and regulations related to working at heights
- Types of scaffolding (roller scaffolding, system scaffolding, hanging scaffolding, pipe and coupling scaffolding, wooden scaffolding, folding scaffolding)
- Assembly, disassembly and changes to scaffolding
- Safety measures to reduce fall risk
- Control routines and documentation
- Safety in case of weather changes
- Permissible loads and work planning
- First aid and risk assessment
The course also emphasizes practical training with at least three different scaffolding types, as well as documentation of at least 72 hours of practice.
Duration and format
- Classroom course: 15 days (36 hours of theory + 72 hours of practice).
- Online course: 36 hours divided into modules with film, text, images and a final test. The online course can be taken flexibly anytime, anywhere – on a PC, mobile or tablet.
Language options include Norwegian, English, Polish, and Lithuanian.
